We sew adorable, but simple dresses for vulnerable girls at risk of being abused, abandoned, or trafficked. You don't have to be an expert seamstress, but you do need to have a good understanding of how to sew with a machine and also a willingness to follow specific guidelines from the organization we are working with. By providing a new dress you may well be changing a young girl's destiny. A new dress tells each precious girl that God loves them and that someone else loves them enough to make it especially just for them, which can make a difference in how she feels about herself.
In addition, village pastors tell us that a girl wearing a new dress presents an appearance that she is well cared for and may discourage would-be predators. Since we attach the Dress A Girl label on the outside of each dress, it sends an additional message that each girl is under the care of an organization, giving her added protection from those who would harm her -- predators and traffickers. CFC Women have sewn and donated dresses to Honduras, Mexico, Vietnam, Uganda, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic. Click here to email Sandy Woods.
Every year on the first Saturday in December, we gather and package up thousands of Christmas cookies and ship them to our deployed men and women overseas. For some, this will be the only package they receive for Christmas. For others, it's an encouraging reminder from folks back home that they're loved and appreciated. In early November, we start gathering the addresses of service people that will be overseas in December. Please click here to contact Fay Peceniak with addresses, questions, or for more info.
3-4 times per year, Women's Ministry hosts a church-wide Call to Prayer event, open to both men and women, where we gather to openly pray for our church, our community, our missionaries both global and local, our government, and our world. Events are published on the Events section of our website as well as in the weekly newsletter The Footprint, so click here to make sure you're subscribed to the Footprint if you're not already receiving them.
