Lead Pastor Opportunity

Catalina Foothills Church is an evangelical Presbyterian church in Tucson, Arizona and a member of the new Arizona Presbytery of the PCA.  We average between 400 to 500 people in two worship services on most weekends (holidays can rise to more than 1000). Like the Presbytery, the church has moved into a new season of its history in which we are focused upon discipleship as the essential center of our vision. We’re all about building disciples.

At Catalina Foothills we want to become a family of irresistible disciples who, out of faith in the gospel, take our discipleship seriously and partner with other churches to exponentially deploy into the city (and parts of the world) until our presence makes a welcome difference to the life of Tucson. We’re dreaming about a movement of people who have a “Come with me” approach to life, helping others meet and trust Christ.

Over the last 20 years, Catalina Foothills Church has developed and supported Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, a K - 12 classical, covenantal, Christian school. Its stellar reputation as a leading and innovative educational institution in Southern Arizona speaks to the quality and commitment of the congregation and its leaders. Catalina Foothills Church is filled with passionate folks highly involved in local, regional, national and world ministries.

This is a prime opportunity for someone who wants the challenge—and fun—of moving forward the mission in our church, city, and world for Christ. Our vision requires a shepherd-leader who passionately champions discipleship as a unifying theme for our ministries. If you are wired to engage in this way as a relational preacher, shepherd, and a visionary leader, this would be a great place for you. We have staff members who are innovative, fast paced and easy going. Our office environment is flexible and supportive. Our session consists of 13 men who are serving in various ministries and are committed to the discipleship vision of the church.  We aim to be a relational team and enjoy fun, team building activities.

Whereas good, Biblically based preaching is crucial for our CFC ministry, the congregation also expressed a strong desire for a relational, team ministry that focuses upon actively living out our faith in relationships and outreach. It’s just as much about Monday through Saturday, not just Sunday alone.

City Information:

The greater Tucson area is spread over 220 square miles with a population of close to 1 million.  It is home to the University of Arizona with a campus in central Tucson and a student population of almost 50,000.

The church is located in the mountain foothills of NW Tucson and draws heavily from the communities of Oro Valley and Marana. To the north of Tucson, Phoenix is situated in the low Sonoran Desert, however, Tucson is considered high desert, which gives us better temperature variations and fantastic weather for most of the year.

As a city, Tucson is a relaxed culture where many people come to play at all times of the year—whether it’s golf, biking, hiking, exploring or just relaxing. The population swells in the winter time as the climate is perfect for outdoor activities when cities to the north are too cold. Restaurants are scattered throughout the city, providing plenty of opportunities to relax with friends. The city was recently named Best Under-the-Radar Food City in America. The University of Arizona provides a wide range of prospects and events in Tucson for sports, theater, music, dance, agriculture, and education. The city plans several all-community events, such as Rodeo Days, arts festivals, and other city-wide activities. Families often drive to the seacoast at San Diego or Los Angeles for many recreational opportunities as another way to relax.
